THE BRONX - Hundreds of children across the city celebrated 100 years of the Police Athletic League Friday with Cultural Day.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Our PAL Communities."

During the program, children visited other PAL centers across the city to learn about different neighborhoods and the cultures unique to those communities. Artwork and posters representing PAL neighborhoods were on display at Longwood Park in the Bronx.

Students also took part in musical performances and dressed up in costumes to represent the diversity of the city.

Even though summer is winding down, some PAL centers will remain open until a week before school starts to give children a safe place to play before they head back to the classroom.
