Parents: Kids hospitalized with rashes after swim at Orchard Beach

THE BRONX - Several parents say their children have been hospitalized for rashes and high fevers after taking a swim at Orchard Beach last week.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg issued a health warning on Friday, saying that a quality assessment test revealed high bacteria levels in the water. Many parents say they didn't see a sign that said swimming was not recommended.

Doctors have confirmed that at least one of the children's rashes came from exposure to bacteria, but they cannot say that it came from Orchard Beach.
