THE BRONX - Many loyal customers say they're in disbelief that a popular Parkchester bakery has been shut down.

The city's Health Department shocked much of the community by closing Zaro's Bread Basket. Inspectors cited the eatery for 64 violations after they found evidence of mice, roaches, improper plumbing and poor sanitation.

The bakery was also shut down in March after receiving dozens of health code violations.

Some say they hope owners can turn things around and open once again, but others say the health issues will keep them away for good.
