THE BRONX - The Department of Transportation says it will be rescinding all citywide proposed monthly parking rate increases after residents expressed their outrage.

Last month, many residents who keep their vehicles in municipal parking garages received a letter stating that parking rates would increase to at least $500 per quarter. The current fee at most parking garages is $240.

The DOT says anyone who has already paid the increased rate will receive a refund check.
