Parking problems force businesses to close

Small businesses on Tremont Avenue say they are being forced to close because the struggling economy and parking problems in the area are driving away

THE BRONX - Small businesses on Tremont Avenue say they are being forced to close because the struggling economy and parking problems in the area are driving away customers.

The street has very few meters for two-hour parking, and many shoppers find tickets on their cars, business owners say. Some say shopping there is not worth the cost of getting a ticket.

Many want to support neighborhood businesses and say adding an extra hour on the meters would help.
