THE BRONX - An outdoor resting spot once used by many people in Pelham Bay has been permanently benched.

The Parks Department says it has no plans to reinstall benches that were removed from Keane Square more than a year ago.

The benches were taken away to help reduce loitering and other unsavory activities in the park, but many say the area hasn’t improved since.

Residents are also complaining that the city doesn’t maintain the park properly.

News 12 reached out to the Parks Department regarding the condition of Keane Square. We have not yet received a response from the agency.
