THE BRONX - A partial building collapse in the borough has left one man injured and many residents displaced.

Officials say a call came in at around 6 p.m. that a stairwell had collapsed between the first and second floors of a five-story apartment building on East 166th Street. They say marble slabs fell through the first and second floors.

People were immediately evacuated from the top floors. The injured man's sister says he fell two stories, suffering cuts along his arm and bruises on his legs.

One resident told News 12 about 19 families live in the apartment complex. People who live on the first floor have since been allowed back into the building.

The Red Cross is helping out the nearly three dozen people, including 17 children, who were displaced from the building.
