THROGS NECK - Residents in Throgs Neck are cleaing up after Hurricane Irene, now downgraded to a tropical storm, left major flooding in their neighborhood.

On Pennyfield Avenue, more than 3 feet of water is covering the streets.

Many residents, who defied the mandatory evacuation order, since they lived in Zone A, said that they are breathing a sigh of relief since the flooding was not as bad as they expected.

While some residents said this is the worst flooding they've seen in the area, they are taking it in stride, swimming up and down the street to pass the time.
