THE BRONX - The New York City Parks Department says it is stepping up patrols following a vandalism incident at Williamsbridge Oval.

Authorities say on Dec. 23 a group threw rocks at the windows and doors of the Williamsbridge Oval Recreation Center.

According to data from the NYPD, 15 violent crimes were reported inside the park from April 2015 to March 2016.

Police say it has one of the highest crime rates of parks in the city.

The Parks Department says it has assigned more park enforcement patrols during the evening hours in an effort to keep residents safe.
