THE BRONX - After two recent snowstorms, city officials are reminding residents and business owners that they are required to clear the sidewalks to prevent slips and falls for pedestrians.

The Department of Sanitation says clearing paths outside a home or business is the owners? responsibility. Each path must be 4-feet wide and be cleared of snow or ice within four hours of the end of a snowfall.

Failure to follow the rules could result in a $100 fine. Around 300 summonses have been issued after the last snowfall.
