Neighbors want the title of their local library to represent their community.

THE BRONX - People in Pelham Parkway are fighting to change the title of their public library branch. 

Members of the Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Association are frustrated that the library on Barnes Avenue, in the heart of Pelham Parkway, is named the Van Nest Branch. 

The location was originally located in Van Nest, and the name stuck when it moved to its current home. 

The group has enlisted the help of a local representative, Council Member James Vacca, and is collecting signatures in favor of a renaming to represent the right community. 

A spokesperson for the New York Public Library system said in a statement, "We have had conversations with community stakeholders about the suggestion of a name change, and are evaluating options."
