Pelham Pkwy. construction forces cancellation of 9/11 race

THE BRONX - Organizers say Pelham Parkway construction has forced them to cancel an annual 9/11 memorial race.

The Lieutenant Thomas Clesse 5-K Run has been held every year by the 49th precinct for more than a decade. Clesse died of cancer in 2000, but the race also pays tribute to all of the first responders who lost their lives on Sept. 11.

Organizers were forced to cancel the run due to traffic and safety concerns.
