THE BRONX - Mounds of leftover snow and ice is making it difficult, even impossible, for some Bronx commuters to get around.

Bus riders complain that most stops haven't been cleaned up, leaving them with no clear path from the sidewalk to the road to get on board.

The conditions are especially difficult for the elderly who aren't able to climb over the snow piles. Many are either forced to stay home or are walking around the block to wait for the bus in the middle of the street.

The Department of Sanitation says it has more than 700 workers out clearing the stops citywide. It also says a contractor was hired by the Department of Sanitation which was supposed to clean the bus shelters.
