MELROSE - Two people died in a murder-suicide in Melrose just after noon Monday, officials say.

Police say a man shot his girlfriend twice in the chest at 320 East 159th St. near Courtlandt Avenue before shooting himself.

Investigators have identified the man as 47-year-old Charles Addison and the woman as 42-year-old Davida Grant.

Both were pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.

A neighbor says she heard the couple arguing on occasion, but Grant's friends say she never indicated that she was having trouble at home.

Friends say Grant worked at UPS and was a loving person.

The investigation is ongoing.
