THE BRONX - Two people were stabbed inside a Bronxdale deli Monday afternoon, police say.

Authorities say both victims were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center. A man in his 40s is in critical condition and a woman in her 30s is in stable condition.

The incident occurred inside the Britton Deli at the corner of White Plains Road and Britton Street.

The deli owner says a man came running in with a big knife and stabbed them while they were buying sandwiches.

He says the man was stabbed twice and the woman was stabbed once.  The woman screamed at the suspect after he began to flee, prompting the suspect to run back and stab her twice more.

Police are looking at surveillance video of the incident in an effort to identify the suspect.
