Police boost efforts to find suspected killer of BX honor student

THE BRONX - Police are asking for help in their search for the gunman who killed a Bronx honor student outside his Soundview home Saturday afternoon.

According to police, 17-year-old Londell Byrd got into a fight with the suspected gunman, Jimmy Delgado, on Friday night. Investigators say they believe Delgado later went to Byrd's house on Noble Avenue, shot him and fled the scene.

Officials say the NYPD has been distributing flyers with Delgado's picture on it in an effort to find him. They say he is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Funeral arrangements for Byrd, a senior at Mount Saint Michael Academy, are scheduled for tomorrow. His classmates, teachers and the president of his school say they will all be there to support his family.
