Police: BX woman stabs boyfriend, claims self-defense

THE BRONX - Police officials say a Bronx woman stabbed her boyfriend to death at his Macombs Drive home on Friday night.

According to police, Shanique Simmons, 35, claims she acted in self-defense when she plunged a knife into the chest of 31-year-old Tyree Reid. Simmons says he was abusive and records show that Reid recently served jail time for domestic assault.

Reid was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he later died. The couple has a 5-year-old son together.
