THE BRONX - Police say the man accused of stealing nearly $200,000 worth of valuables from the Old Saint Raymond's Cemetery has been arrested.
Authorities say Louis Peduto stole $180,000 worth of valuables from the Balcom Avenue cemetery this past weekend. Peduto allegedly made off with bronze door handles and name plates. Cemetery officials say 60 mausoleums were damaged.
On Monday, a cemetery security guard allegedly spotted Peduto in the act, but was unable to catch him.
Peduto is being charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar tools and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
