Police: Driver in fatal Bronx church van crash was unlicensed

THE BRONX - (AP) - State police say an unlicenseddriver was at the wheel of a church van in which six people werekilled last year.

The police say Bernard Lattibeaudiere of theBronx was driving with a revoked license when the van blew a tireand overturned on the state Thruway September 18.

The van was carrying 14 people from a Bronx church. The church'sbishop, his wife and four others died.

Police said Monday that Lattibeaudiere has been charged withaggravated unlicensed driving, a felony, and unlicensed driving, atraffic infraction. He was arraigned in Town of Woodbury Court andreleased pending a Feb. 1 appearance.

A court clerk said a not-guilty plea was entered. She saidLattibeaudiere does not have an attorney of record.
