SOUNDVIEW - Police are investigating what led an officer to accidentally shoot an innocent elderly man during a drug raid early Saturday morning.

Investigators say they were trying to arrest 41-year-old Alberto Colon but upon entry, Officer Andrew McCormack shot Colon's 76-year-old father in the stomach.

The man was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition.

Police were able to arrest Alberto Colon after finding drugs in the apartment.

The police department is continuing to investigate the shooting.
