Police: Ex-cadet in stable condition

LONGWOOD - Police say former police cadet Thomas Rodriguez is in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital after being shot Monday in Longwood.

Police say the shooting happened around 5:00 a.m. on Avenue Saint John outside of an apartment building. The 23-year-old victim came to the complex to visit family, according to sources. The person who shot Rodriguez is still on the loose.

Officials are not sure if the victim was robbed. They say he was shot in the abdomen upon entering the building which is surrounded by security cameras. Police hope the cameras will help in the investigation.
