Police give safety tips for holiday shoppers

With the holiday season in full swing, police are encouraging residents to stay safe when shopping at malls. The NYPD wants to remind Bronx residents

FORDHAM - With the holiday season in full swing, police are encouraging residents to stay safe when shopping at malls.

The NYPD wants to remind Bronx residents to stay alert, and be aware of their surroundings. They are also urging shoppers not to leave their bags unattended in their car, and if necessary, to ensure that all purchases and personal items are covered up.

After arriving home, residents should always have their keys out, and shouldn’t shuffle through their purses or pocketbooks.

Authorities also recommend that people plan in advance for what they are planning on buying, and to carry only as much cash as necessary.
