Police looking for hit-and-run driver of 5-year-old

WILLIAMSBRIDGE - Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a 5-year-old boy in Williamsbridge yesterday.

The accident occurred at 930 East 214th St. just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and was caught on a security tape.

Police say the boy, Joshua Saunders, ran into the street to chase a ball, when a Nissan Pathfinder struck him and dragged him more than 50 feet down the road. Officials say Saunders is in critical condition.

The family will be holding a vigil outside their home this evening.
