THE BRONX - A man is wanted by police for attacking and robbing several women of their purses in the Bronx.

Police say two men attacked three women and then stole their pocketbooks.

They say the duo attacked a 38-year-old woman on Whitlock Avenue near the 6 subway station on July 3. The men approached the victim as she walked down the stairs to the street below, grabbing her purse and pushing her to the ground. However, police say the purse strap broke and the men ran off empty handed.

Police say the two men also targeted a 22-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman just a few minutes later on East 165th Street and Westchester Avenue. Police say the men followed the two victims, then punched one of them from behind and ripped her purse from her hand. The second victim was dragged to the floor by one of the suspects who stole her purse.

Police say the 22-year-old woman was transported to St. Barnabus Hospital, but was later released.

Police say one suspect was arrested shortly after the attacks, but they are still looking for the second man.

He is described as being 5'8'' tall, 160 pounds, and was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, gray shorts, white socks and white sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
