Police: Man attempted to rape woman inside Bronx apartment

A man attempted to rape a woman in the Bronx after following her home and pushing her inside of her own apartment, police say.

FORDHAM - A man attempted to rape a woman in the Bronx after following her home and pushing her inside of her own apartment, police say. 

The incident happened Saturday inside an apartment building near Creston Avenue and East 182nd Street before 2 p.m. 

Police say the man followed a 31-year-old woman to the second floor of her apartment building and when she opened the door to her unit, he placed her in a chokehold and pushed her inside.

The man allegedly told the woman not to scream before grabbing her chest, but she screamed and he ran away. 

Police have released a surveillance picture of the man.
