A man has died after he allegedly caused a wrong-way crash on the Willis Avenue Bridge in a stolen vehicle and suffered a heart attack

THE BRONX - A man has died after he allegedly caused a wrong-way crash on the Willis Avenue Bridge in a stolen vehicle and suffered a heart attack after being taken into police custody, police say.

Police say the 30-year-old man was driving the wrong way around 10:45 a.m. when he crashed into another car, then struck a concrete barrier.

When the car came to a stop, the man then exited the car and apparently tried to jump off the bridge, according to police.

Officers stopped the man from jumping and took him into custody, but he was later pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital. 

Two passengers, including a 7-year-old, in the vehicle that the man crashed into were taken to Lincoln Hospital and are expected to be OK. .

Police say the driver of the second car, 28-year-old Peter Diaz Carguila, of North Carolina, was also arrested for driving with a suspended license. 

The official cause of death of the 30-year-old man will be determined by a medical examiner, police say.
