THE BRONX - Police say a man was fatally shot on Andrews Avenue Friday.

The shooting happened at around 11 p.m. Officials say they found 23-year-old Joel Rivera with a gunshot wound to the neck just steps away from his home.

A neighbor says he heard gunfire and then heard a car speed off. He says sirens sounded minutes later, and says he saw the victim bleeding in the road with his mother crying out for help.

Rivera was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At the scene of the shooting the next morning, News 12 cameras saw a car window that had been shattered from gunshots. A few feet away, at the building where Rivera lived, multiple bullet holes were seen in the glass entrance.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is still ongoing.
