Police nab suspect after 10th church school robbery

THE BRONX - Police say a suspect is in custody after allegedly breaking into a church school in Bedford Park early Sunday morning.

Officials say this morning's break-in was the 10th burglary of a church or religious school in the area in about a month.

Investigators say a man used his fists to smash a window at Saint Philip Neri school in Bedford Park and entered the building. A church member noticed him acting suspiciously and called police, who caught up with the man a few blocks away.

The suspect hasn't yet been identified and investigators have not said whether all of the recent break-ins are related.

Just two days earlier, burglars busted into Saint James Episcopal Church, about a mile away from Saint Philip's.
