THE BRONX - Police say a newborn has been found in Bronx dumpster located at 1321 West Farms Road.

A 19-year-old woman, who was taken to Einstein Hospital, told doctors that she gave birth and tossed the newborn down a garbage chute that leads to an incinerator.

Neighbors told News 12 graphic details about the event, including that the woman gave birth in her bathroom and asked her brother for scissors and a bag. They say she then proceeded to throw the bag down the building's garbage chute. However, the bag was retrieved from a dumpster behind the building.

Neighbors added that the woman was not noticeably pregnant.

The medical examiner is determining if the newborn was alive at birth.
