THE BRONX - Police officers from all 12 Bronx precincts let loose Saturday at the first Bronx Unity Showcase.

The talent show featured officers and members of the community dancing to hip-hop songs and Broadway show tunes.

"We think it's important to show the community at large what a group of people such as the community and the police department can do together and have fun and bring a positive message," said Luis Melendez, a retired officer who organized the event.

The Bronx Unity Showcase was held at Lehman College. Organizers plan to make it an annual event.
