THE BRONX - Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a mother and her son on Loring Place in the Bronx.

Police say they found Micaela Jackson and her son, Kenneth Holmes Jr., 12, lying side by side with gunshot wounds to their heads in their first-floor apartment.

Investigators say they recovered a 9 mm handgun not far from the mother's body, and a note from the mother saying she felt overwhelmed caring for her autistic son.

The bodies were discovered Wednesday night by a relative. Family members would not say when the funeral would take place, but did say services will be at the United Methodist Church on University Avenue.
