Police rescue baby abandoned on Grand Concourse

THE BRONX - Police officials at the 44th Precinct say officers responded to a call today about an abandoned baby on the Grand Concourse.

Police say the child was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center for observation after being found at about 12:16 p.m. According to police, the child's father had an adverse effect to medication, became disoriented and inadvertently left the baby alone.

Authorities say the child is being reunited with his mother. No charges are expected to be filed against the father.
