Police search for driver in fatal BX hit-and-run

THE BRONX - Police and family members are seeking the public's help in the search for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run on Jerome Avenue last night.

According to police, 39-year-old Graziano Abreu was struck while crossing Jerome Avenue at East 167th Street. He was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators describe the vehicle as a dark-colored Jeep with New Jersey plates. Witnesses say the driver briefly hesitated before heading south on Jerome Avenue.

Residents say the four-way intersection is known for deadly accidents and that there is no crosswalk.
