THE BRONX - Police released new information in their search for the killer of 'Baby Hope,' a case that has been open for more than two decades.

The body of the little girl, who is believed to have been between 3 and 5 years old, was found inside a picnic cooler near the Henry Hudson Parkway in Washington Heights in 1991. Cops also discovered that she had been sexually abused.

Police say they recently received a tip from a woman who thought she might know the sister of 'Baby Hope.' That information and DNA evidence led them to identify the mother of the child.

Investigators are now looking for her father, the last person the girl was seen with.

News 12 spoke with Assistant Chief Joseph Resnick, who worked on the case. He says he feels a real sense of elation and relief for knowing the name of the little girl.

Authorities had rereleased a flyer back in July showing an age progression sketch of the victim and offering a $12,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
