THE BRONX - Police are on the hunt for a man who escaped from police custody while in handcuffs.

The NYPD says they had William Monge-Betancourt, 23, in custody at around 10 p.m. Friday night when he wrestled himself away from the arresting officers and ran across the Cross Bronx Expressway against traffic.

They say Monge-Bettancourt had been pulled over for speeding when cops discovered marijuana and other drugs.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
