Police seek gunman who robbed teens in BX park

WILKINSON PARK - Police are searching for a gunman who they say robbed two teenagers at gunpoint in Wilkinson Park Tuesday night.

The victims say they were sitting on a bench in the park, talking on their cell phones, when they were approached by the armed thief. They say the suspect demanded cash and their cell phones and then took off down Mulford Avenue.

Neighbors say they have noticed a spike in crime recently, despite the fact that the 45th Precinct says robberies are down 3.5 percent over the last year.

Residents are being urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477 with any information about the crime.
