Police: Shootings on the rise in The Bronx

THE BRONX - The number of shootings in The Bronx and throughout the city is on the rise, according to police.

Authorities say there were 56 shootings throughout the city last week alone, a more than 150-percent increase from the same week last year. They say shootings are also up 28 percent over the past month.

The Bronx has already seen more than 100 murders in the past year including a recent shooting on White Plains Road last Thursday. The Bronx Clergy Association says it's firing back with plans to hold a peaceful march against gun violence.
