Police target illegally parked tractor-trailers

THE BRONX - ? Police plan to send drivers a message by issuing tickets to illegally parked tractor-trailers on the Cross Bronx Expressway service road this morning.

Residents in Throgs Neck say the parked vehicles block their view making it dangerous for other drivers. Police say many drivers park on the road to get some sleep during overnight shifts.

Residents are asking for heavier fines for tractor-trailers illegally parked on the road. Currently, the fine is $50. However, residents want it increased to $250 for first time offenders and $500 for a second offense within six months.
