THE BRONX - Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured last night at the John Adams Houses on Tinton Avenue.

The shooting happened at around 6 p.m. yesterday, when police responded to a 911 call at 680 Tinton Ave. The two victims were found outside and transported to Lincoln Hospital. One of the victims, 28-year-old Tyrek Singleton, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The second victim was shot in the leg and is in stable condition. Police are looking for at least one suspect and have made no arrests.

Julius Silva, a friend and neighbor of Singleton, set up a memorial for the victims. Silva says he grew up in the area with both of the victims.

Silva says Singleton moved to Pennsylvania a few years ago to attend college and to start a better life.
