Police warn against computer virus in bogus ticket email

THE BRONX - State and local police are warning residents about a traffic ticket hoax that's actually a computer virus attached to an email.

The hoax email requests that the recipient open an attached zip file, allegedly a copy of the traffic ticket to fill out and send to a town court. The zip file is believed to contain a computer virus and is currently being analyzed by the State Police Computer Forensics Lab.

Authorities say if you receive this email, you should not open the email or attachment. Police also ask to simply delete the email and not forward it to authorities.
