Police warn elderly to beware of Bronx mugger

THE BRONX - Detectives with the 42nd Precinct are warning elderly Bronx women to beware of a mugger who has struck four times in three days.

According to police, the man attacks the women around residential locations. He has threatened some with a screwdriver and has hit others before fleeing with their money.

Police say the first incident occurred Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. in the elevator of 825 E. 170th St. The suspect demanded money then punched the victim in her face.

Two incidents occurred Nov. 9. Police say the first attack happened around 2 a.m. when the mugger struggled with a woman in front of a Forest Avenue home, where he fled with her purse. The second attack occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the lobby of 1683 Boston Rd. According to police, the man followed the woman, threatened her with a screwdriver, kicked her and got away with her purse.

The last mugging occurred Nov. 10 at 9:40 a.m. in the elevator of 1358 Washington Ave.

Anyone with information about the rampage is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
