Police: Woman killed by SUV in Mott Haven

THE BRONX - A 74-year-old woman was killed in Mott Haven after an SUV ran her over, according to police.

The SUV was traveling southbound on Beekman Avenue Tuesday morning when the driver struck and killed Candida Acosta, who was attempting to cross the street.

The SUV then crashed into a street sign and jumped the curb before crashing into a wall on East 141th Street.

Police say the 47-year-old female driver and her 8-year-old daughter were taken to Lincoln Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities say it’s possible the driver may receive a summons.
