Postal center closure could disrupt local mail service

THE BRONX - The possible closure of a Bronx mail-processing center could disrupt mail service for the borough.

The United States Postal System is conducting a feasibility study to determine whether it can close a center at 149th Street and Grand Concourse. All mail from the center would be processed in Manhattan and then taken to the Bronx.

Residents say closing the major center could delay mail getting to the borough. A spokesperson for the post office says it has not completed the study and has not made a decision on closing the center.
