THE BRONX - More than 100 people in University Heights are breathing a sigh of relief after enduring several hours in the sweltering heat without electricity.

Tenants on University Avenue say that power went out at around 1 a.m. Thursday, leaving them without fans, air conditioners or working elevators as temperatures climbed into the high 90s.

Con Edison says the outages were caused by an equipment failure in the street.
