Power restored after manhole explosions

THE BRONX - Power has been restored to more than 100 Norwood residents and local businesses after multiple manholes exploded today.

According to fire officials, the three manholes exploded on Jerome, DeKalb and Bainbridge avenues. More than 200 people were evacuated, emergency workers say.

Fire officials say faulty wiring is to blame for the explosions.

Con Edison says it will have crews working around the clock to fix transformers and any other wiring destroyed by the explosions.
