THE BRONX - The estimated Powerball jackpot reached an unprecedented $1.4 billion Monday, two days ahead of the next drawing.

Powerball players in the Bronx say winning involves strategic shopping for their tickets, so many have flocked to a Fordham Road convenience store.

The particular shop has sold prize-winning tickets in the past.  One was for a $167 million Mega Millions jackpot in 2009.

Managers of the store tell News 12 that people know it is a hot spot.

This week alone, the manager says they have sold $20,000 worth of Powerball tickets. With two days left before Wednesday night's billion-dollar drawing, they expect to hit $50,000.
