THE BRONX - Residents voiced their opinions on the future of the City Island Bridge at a community board and zoning committee public hearing Wednesday night.
The redesign of the 112-year-old bridge has been the center of a heated debate between residents and the Department of Transportation for more than a decade.
City Island Civic Association Vice President Barbara Dolensek says the ultimate goal is to show the committee that the DOT application should not be approved.

The housing and zoning committee voted against the DOT application after dozens of residents showed up and shared their strong and similar views about the bridge.
The vote was announced 11 members against the application with 2 abstentions.
The process was only an advisory vote that the committee will bring to the entire Community Board 10 meeting scheduled for Thursday night.
