THE BRONX - The Pyramid Reception Center in Melrose was sold at auction this morning for $6.65 million.

Bidders gathered at the court building on Grand Concourse to bid on the former youth detention facility at 470 East 161st St.

The new property owner didn't comment to News 12, but his broker said that the community should have high hopes for the building.

“[We will] work with community, local community organizations and put it back to good use," said Ivan Diaz, of Diaz & Associate Realty.

The building was a former New York State Office of Children and Family Services Reception Center for Boys and a YMCA equipped with a swimming pool, game room and gymnasium.
