NEW YORK - A radio DJ was remembered by his station Wednesday after he was killed in a hit-and-run in Brooklyn.

DJ Jinx Paul worked at popular radio station Mega 97.9, owned by Spanish Broadcasting System and based in midtown Manhattan. His parents flew in from Ecuador and went on air.

The 39-year-old, whose name is Jean Paul Guerrero, of Harlem, was fatally struck by a car early Monday morning after leaving a Brooklyn nightclub where he was performing as a DJ.

Police say the vehicle that hit Guerrero was a Nissan Maxima believed to be driven by a 20- to 30-year-old woman.

At the radio station, Guerrero went from intern to full-blown radio celebrity in just two short years. His dedicated would listeners tuned in every night starting at 7 p.m.

Mega 97.9 staff members plan to start a college fund for Guerrero's 6-year-old son. They are also taking care of his funeral expenses.
