Rafal Alam, 22, dies at Bronx Lebanon Hospital after shooting on Jerome Avenue

THE BRONX - Police say a young man died after he was shot on Jerome Avenue early this morning.

Police say 22-year-old Rafael Alam was shot in the back just after 6 a.m. near East 174th Street and Jerome Avenue.

Authorities say Alam was sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle and talking to a woman when the woman's brother approached and shot him.

Alam was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The woman and her brother fled on foot. No arrests have been made.
